Digital Electronic Lab Sessions
Introduction to electrical circuits

In this series of labs, students will learn about electrical current. Using batteries that supply voltage, wires that guide current, and loads such as lights and resistors, students are introduced to Ohms Law.
Lab overview...
- Batteries and lamps
- Conductors and switches
- Diodes and current limiting resistors
- Capacitors
- Electromagnets and relays
- Transistors
- Logic circuits
Logic Gates

In this series of labs, you will use an integrated board that provides powered logic ICs with easy-to-use inputs, outputs and cross connects. Input and output signals have LEDs with current limiting resistors.
Lab overview...
- AND & OR gates
- NAND & NOR gates
- DeMorgan's Law
- Multiplexor
- Adders
Dice Project

In this project, you will build a circuit where LEDs represent the pips on a standard die face.

- LEDs and switches - in this project, students will wire LEDs to switches and then to logic gate ICs to light up in the pattern to replicate pips on a die.
- Digital counters - the counter lab will introduce students to up/down binary counter ICs.
- Oscillators - students will learn how to make a pulsating oscillator which will be used in the dice project as well as in more advanced projects such as the digital clock.
